HOME ECONOMICS FORM 2 NOTES
- Description
- Curriculum
- Reviews
The Three-Year Junior Secondary Home Economics syllabus is designed to equip learners with practical competencies that are relevant to real life situations. The practical skills envisaged here do not only include manipulative skills but also include problem solving and critical thinking skills that will enable the learners to adapt what has been learnt in school to real life situations. It is expected that, if properly implemented, the syllabus will cater for a diverse range of students’ abilities in recognition of Universal Access to Education.
TIME ALLOCATION
The programme allows adoptability and encourages learners to use resources economically. For instance, indigenous foods should be used in Food and Nutrition lessons more frequently than those that are not indigenous. The projects made in textiles and crafts should be relevant to all learners. Teachers should make adequate use of the learner’s related knowledge from the different school disciplines. Home Economics emphasises the integration and infusion of emerging issues. The programme also takes on board the ideals of society as presented in Vision 2016.Below are topics that will be included in this subject:
UNIT 1: FOOD AND NUTRITION
UNIT 2: HOME MANAGEMENT
